Suhr Jack Rabbit Tremolo
The Suhr Jackrabbit is a fixed wave type of tremolo pedal. For those that want a couple different options, but don't want to do a lot of tweaking, this is a great pedal.
The standard color for this pedal is green. The one I have is purple which was a limited edition color for a sale they had previously.
It is an analog pedal, with True Bypass and can be powered from 9 - 18v. It has built in protection from over voltage and reverse voltage.
It features both Tap and Strum tempo.
The Volume control can go from 0db to +14db. So a good range. As usual you can use it as a boost pedal with the depth all the way down.
Rate and depth are standard fair controls on any Tremolo. The depth knob does exactly what you expect it to and nothing you don't.
That brings us to the Wave selection knob.
We have 5 choices for wave form.
Sine, Square, Triangle, Reverse Sawtooth, and Sawtooth. These wave forms are pretty middle of the road, offering equal on/off time in their cycles.
Sine Wave Form Various Depths
Square Wave Form Various Depths
Triangle Wave Form Various Depths
Reverse Sawtooth Wave Form Various Depths
Sawtooth Wave Form Various Depths
Lastly we have a sub-division switch for the tap tempo.
Tap or Strum tempo is activated by holding down the foot switch for 2 seconds. You can use the rate knob in these modes to select which one you want to work with to the right is strum tempo, to the left is tap tempo. You'll need to tap or strum 3 times to set the tempo.
So as for the wave forms, you've pretty much got what you'd need covered. If you want additional control of the wave forms, then you'll want to look at a different Tremolo pedal. These are fixed and not modify-able
Sine - Smooth and deeper tremolo
Square - Choppy
Triangle - Pulsey, emphasizes highs and lows in the cycle
Reverse Sawtooth - Twinkly setting, very pulsey
Sawtooth - Good for reverse sounding riffs
As far as the basics, this pedal has you covered. Everything is as you expect on the wave shapes. Things are pretty even in the duty cycles. If you like even, then this pedal is for you. If you are a fan of throwing the wave form a little off center, then this pedal is NOT for you.
Pros
- Volume boost
- True Bypass
- 9 Or 18v Operation
- Battery powered with level indication
- Also can be powered by an adapter
- 5 Different Waveforms
- Tap or Strum tempo
- FX Link for External Control
Cons (List of things to consider that may be cons for you)
- Pretty even on/off time. If you like to be able to dial things a bit off center etc... this is not the trem for you.
